Jobs & the Economy
Trey believes that we can grow our economy and strengthen our community by making smart investments. Trey wants to stimulate local business expansion and job creation by funding improvement projects on bridges, dams, rail freight and small airports.
Trey supports enhancements to the Job Creation Tax Credit Program to lower the interest rates on loans the state makes to businesses and municipalities.
Health Care
Trey thinks it is time for Harrisburg to move forward with new health care legislation. He believes the state should give employers a tax credit for providing health insurance to their employees. Eventually, the state Medicaid plan should be expanded to cover everyone who is not currently insured. Basic coverage should include preventive care including cancer screening for at-risk populations and prenatal care for all pregnant women. It should also cover catastrophic illness and injury, to prevent bankrupting citizens and the hospitals that serve them.
Green Growth
It’s not enough to finance short-term job growth. Trey wants to create green collar jobs which are a credit to our community and offer our families long-term energy price stability.
Trey supports State grants and low-interest loans to the energy entrepreneurs of tomorrow. He also wants to expand the Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ) tax incentives and funding for state university programs which promise our families new opportunities for tomorrow.
Chesapeake Bay Project
The proposed Chesapeake Bay project will affect almost every municipality in the area. Trey believes the State and Federal government need to come to the table with funding. Read Press Release >>
I-80 Tolls
Trey is opposed to the tolling of I-80. Tolls increase trucking expenses and will add to the cost of food and gas.
Electric Rate-caps
The impending 2010 expiration of rate caps are projected to cause electric bills to jump by at least 30 percent. Trey supports an extension of the rate caps.
